AFRINIC has been at the center of a number of organizational controversies in the past five years. A former senior management member from AFRINIC, Ernest Byaruhanga, committed what is tagged to be Africa's greatest internet heist. WebMar 17, 2024 · AFRINIC addressed the problem in June 2024, and accused Cloud Innovations Ltd. (CIL) of violating AFRINIC rules, as well as the Registration Service Agreement (RSA) which governs the acceptable use of IP addresses allocated by AFRINIC to its members. CIL responded, and vigorously contested AFRINIC’s accusations against it. In all this time, neither anyone from AFRINIC nor anyone from the Mauritian national police have made any effort to ask either Jan or myself what, if anything, we know about these matters that has not yet appeared in print.
