The lifter manufacturer's recommendations should be consulted for the amount of preload. If however, the mfgr is unknown, or the preload info is not available, then I would recommend at least 1/2 turn preload for all hydraulic lifters.

Tried different oil viscosities and it changes the severity of the noise somewhat, but certainly isnt a solution. Oil pressure is solid so I'm 99% sure my noises are all top end related.
